Institute for life, food and horticultural sciences and landscaping

Focussing on sustainable development in agriculture, food production and territories, the research projects pursued at AGROCAMPUS OUEST are oriented both by scientific inquiry and by socio-economic issues in the fields of food production, the environment and agriculture. They advance knowledge, guide public and private decision-making, and lead to innovations of value to society.

Characterised by multi-disciplinary partnerships and collaborations, knowledge transfer to the socio-economic sector takes various forms at AGROCAMPUS OUEST : scientific and technical cooperation, technological transfer, and help with innovative business creation.

In 2011, AGROCAMPUS OUEST thus concluded, within the framework of its 13 research units, 163 new agreements for research partnerships and provision of services with public and private partners, (including 17 ANR contracts) for a total amount of €15m.
Some of these projects have been endorsed by the competitive clusters in which AGROCAMPUS OUEST participates : Valorial, Végépolys, Mer Bretagne.

AGROCAMPUS OUEST is involved in a number of thematic groups of scientific interest bringing together private and public partners, in a business-college chair dedicated to ecologically intensive agriculture, and in the Institut Carnot en Santé Animale (Carnot Animal Health Institute).

Transforming ideas and projects resulting from the work of its researchers or their partners into business initiatives is a further objective of AGROCAMPUS OUEST, which supports those pursuing innovative projects by hosting start-ups in collaboration with regional business incubators.
