Historical library

The Rennes general library is an exceptional setting for one of the richest French historical collections in the field of agriculture, with some 30,000 volumes, books and periodicals published since 1571.

The oldest book is a work by a 16th-century Italian agriculturist, Augustin Gallo.

This historical collection, largely predating the foundation of AGROCAMPUS OUEST, owes its existence partly to donations, but above all to the receipt of some of the books from the library of the first Institut National Agronomique, created in 1850 then closed two years later.

Consultation of the old collection may only be arranged by appointment with the manager of the historical library.

The borrowing or reproduction of documents from this collection is not permitted.
