Statistical ecology and Bayesian statistical modelling for fisheries ecology and fish stock assessment.

Research interest and expertise
I have an expertise in statistical ecology, quantitative modelling and statistics for fisheries ecology, fish stock assessment and risk analysis for fisheries management (PhD 2003 : Quantitative modelling and statistics for fisheries ecology).
Since 2005 I am extending my research activities to the development and applications of Bayesian hierarchical models for the analysis of integrated large dimensional ecological models, including multiple sources of variability and stochasticity in the process and the data. I have a particular experience in Bayesian state-space modelling and more generally in methods for embedding fish population dynamics models into statistical inferences.


 
I have been involved in the research European project ISTAM (Improving Scientific and Technical Advices for Fisheries Management) to develop bayesian methods for stock assessment adapted to data poor situations.
I’m currently working on integrated models that aim at coupling population dynamics with dispersion patterns, e.g. larval dispersion derived from oceanic model for larval drifting.
In the next few years, I will be involved in the research project ECOKNOWS (7th European Framework Program; 2010-2013) which general aim is to extend the use of the Bayesian methodology in fisheries sciences in order to improve the integration of biological process and multiple source of data in fisheries stock assessments models.
